How do I know this?  I know this because I have seen it for myself.  I have seen students come back from potentially failing math to passing their math classes.  I have even seen students that enter the school year 2-3 grade levels behind, come back and reach or exceed grade level by the end of the year.​

I started tutoring in-person when I was in high school back in 2010.  Five years later, I got my first teaching job, and had stopped tutoring.  But, in 2018, I observed that I spent more time focusing on classroom management and planning my lessons to fit an outdated curriculum.  This caused me to focus less on giving the students the education that I knew that they deserved, and the instruction that I could give them.  This caused the students to get frustrated.

One day, I realized that when I taught 15-20 students in 40 minutes, I did not have enough time to take every student that walked into my classroom from where they were to where they needed to be.  However, when I worked with students one on one, I was able to focus on what each student needed and customize my teaching to fit their learning style.  As a result, they saw improvement in their grades and had those "light bulb" moments, and that inspired me.  When I realized this, I knew what I had to do.  At the end of that school year, I chose to leave the school system.  Since then, I have focused on how to get students from struggling in math, to passing (and in some cases, liking) math.  When the pandemic came, I transitioned to online math tutoring.  I noticed that I was still able to get students to where they wanted to be, and help students that I would otherwise not be able to.
